Stunt Stomp is a project that experiments with ways to express and curate a brand identity from an artifact, in this case, a kick-ass pair of platform boots.
INITIAL RESEARCH
To kick off the project, I mind-mapped my initial thoughts on platform boots and then I thought about the different statements and meanings attributed to them. I then researched how platform boots have been discussed throughout history, focusing on how wearers use them to evoke an emotion: empowerment.
VISUAL IDEATION
I continued to think about how to translate the elements of the artifact into a brand identity and values. I utilized a semiotic matrix and mood board to narrow down the look and feel.

SKETCHES
I researched how other shoe brands such as Vans and Dr. Martins branded themselves and what commonalities there were. I narrowed down the visual elements that create the look and feel of the brand voice I wanted to evoke.

OUTCOMES
STUNT STOMP is a brand specializing in platform boots. Outcomes include examples of applied branding: a logo, taglines, storefront design, advertisements, custom illustrations, and image treatment styles to be utilized in both print and digital media.

VISUAL STYLE: Geometric, sharp illustrations; bold and block-like typography to emulate the chunky soles; spiral background to draw focus and callback to musical influences of subcultures; distressed and grainy textures to show authentic grit.
